A handle-mechanism replacement and a complete-tap replacement are different jobs. The written instructions should not be extended to another model simply because its name or appearance is similar.

Before installation

Check the product code on the item or order against the guide.
Confirm the supply-side and hose-side connections independently.
Have the existing fitting and the suitability of the selected product checked.
Read the XValve warranty conditions, including the installation requirements.
Use a licensed plumber as required by the product’s warranty conditions, and ask the installer to confirm any applicable local requirements.

The following sequences retain the original manufacturer wording and order. They are not a substitute for checking the installation or for the model-specific advice needed where the existing fitting differs.

Complete garden tap fitting instructions

Model: XV7-C0001

Turn off water to the premises at the meter.
Remove old garden tap.
Wrap the thread around at least 3 times using thread seal tape. Screw on the XValve Garden Tap.
Turn on the water supply.

Garden tap handle mechanism fitting instructions

Model: XV7-T0001

Turn off water to the premises at the meter.
Remove the top button from the handle with a small screwdriver and undo the Phillips head screw. Take off the green handle.
Using a spanner, remove the old hose tap spindle head from the body.
Making sure the bottom red washer is in place, install the new XValve spindle assembly by screwing it into the body.
Using adjustable spanner on the brass flat spots, tighten the XValve.
Using the spanner, tighten down the lock nut. Turn on the water to make sure there are no leaks at the base of the large red body washer. Tighten the spindle if it is leaking.
Replace the green handle and tighten the Phillips head screw into the spindle.
Replace handle button by pushing it until it snaps in place.

After fitting

Have the installer check the completed connections and operation before putting the tap into normal use. Keep the product code, purchase record and installation documentation together. If the tap leaks or does not operate as expected, ask the installer or XValve to assess it rather than applying an unverified modification.

Common fitting questions

Why do the instructions mention a washer if the tap is washer-free?

Washer-free refers to the operating design that does not use the traditional tap-seat washer. Other seals can still be present. The handle-mechanism sequence above explicitly refers to a red washer, which must not be omitted on the assumption that the product has no seals.

Do the 1/2 and 3/4 labels tell me the hose connection size?

The two connections are different. XV7-C0001 has a 1/2-inch male water-supply connection and a 3/4-inch (20 mm) male hose connection. XV7-C80001 has a 3/4-inch male water-supply connection and a 1-inch (25 mm) male hose connection. Match both to the installation.

Are these also basin or wall spindle instructions?
